Based just outside the village of Pilling, Lancashire situated approximately 10 miles from Lancaster, Preston and Blackpool, the Gardener's Cottage was built 12 years ago by Alan & Debra and a team of local craftsmen. The idea behind the build was to see if we could build a highly insulated house from local materials with many natural features for the same price as a standard brick build.
The Gardener's Cottage boasts a staircase made from an oak tree as the main attraction. The windowsills and skirting boards are made from the wany edges of the tree, which are normally thrown away as waste. We have made them into features. A local artist has left his mark on the inside with a mural of French Beans and Morning Glory. Can you spot the field mouse and butterfly within the artwork?
The Gardener's Cottage accommodates six people with ease in two bedrooms (one double one with two singles) with a double bed settee in the open plan lounge area. A new luxury bathroom has a rain shower and whirlpool bath in which to pamper yourselves during your stay with us. The half an acre of private grounds around Gardener's Cottage will give you a real feeling of being secluded in your own space. The garden lends itself perfectly to small events like entertaining your family or friends for a BBQ or cocktails in the gazebo. If you would like others to join you during your stay, the hidden garden will accommodate up to 5 tents easily for a small extra fee. We have even got a booking for a handfasting ceremony next year!
Please contact us with your needs and Alan and Debra will do what they can to help make your visit special.
